ABOUT ICMS

The first Indian Colloquium on Micropalaeontology & Stratigraphy (ICMS) was organised by Dr. S. Sambe Gowda in Bangalore to commemorate the 75th birth anniversary of Late Prof. L. Rama Rao. Since then, with few gaps, the Micropaleontological Community has been enthusiastically organising ICMS at various places in India including University Departments and Research Institutes. This has been possible due to the initiative taken by many active workers in the field of Micropaleontology and Stratigraphy. Recent years have witnessed tremendous progress in the microfossil’s studies including their application in palaeoceanographic, paleoclimatic studies along with biostratigraphy, biochronology and hydrocarbon explorations. This has added to the relevance of Indian Colloquium on Micropalaeontology and Stratigraphy which has become a prominent forum for Indian researches to present their new findings. The last ICMS was held at SPU University Pune in 2022 after we all recovered from a rather difficult phase of COVID-19. The Department of Geology, University of Delhi was entrusted with holding the 29th ICMS and we are pleased to release the first Circular. The Department of Geology, University of Delhi has been a well-established centre of teaching and research of Micropaleontology, Biostratigraphy and Biochronology since last 4 decades. The contribution of the department in the field of Biostratigraphy, Biochronology and paleocenographic researches have been well recognised. The organising committee of the 29th ICMS extends cordial invitation to you for active participation in the deliberations of the Colloquium at Department of Geology, University of Delhi.
